Austin Radiology Associates Selects TraumaCad
Orthocrat Provides Seamless Integration with Fuji PACS
Austin Radiological Associates (ARA), a multi-modality, multi-site radiology practice has
selected Orthocrat to create an innovative orthopedics planning and templating solution for use
by its referring physicians. The solution integrates Orthocrat's TraumaCad with Fuji’s Synapse
PACS and is available to authorized users wherever located as a thin-client Web-based solution.
“Beyond convenient, ultra-fast digital image access, as a value-added service Austin
Radiological Association wanted to provide referring physicians with advanced digital orthopedic
tools for using these images,” said Christopher Mercado, ARA PACS systems analyst.
With its state-of-the-art technology, TraumaCad was an excellent fit for the innovative
radiology practice. Orthocrat worked with ARA to provide a customized server-based architecture
with a single point of entry through the Fuji PACS. The solution allows offsite orthopedists to log
onto the application securely over the Internet. Once logged in, orthopedists can remotely
access the server-based TraumaCad software and all its templates and tools. Using Orthocrat's
seamless, customized Fuji interface, orthopedists simply drag and drop their images into the
TraumaCad workspace after accessing them though the PACS.
"The two solutions interface seamlessly and are extremely easy to use. Orthopedists
have been enthusiastic about the product," said Mercado. He also notes that because
TraumaCad is accessible directly through the Fuji software, the PACS provides user
authentications for both systems, allowing efficient, secure access to both applications. Mercado
believes that this, combined with the seamless custom-developed user interface, makes the
Orthocrat-Fuji solution truly unique.
ARA selected TraumaCad after an in-depth investigation of competing software by an inhouse
search committee made up of clinicians and IT professionals. "We found TraumaCad to
be the most intuitive and user friendly choice on the market,” said Mercado. “Also Orthocrat was
willing to work with us to develop an architecture that would support seamless access to users
beyond the hospital network. We're extremely pleased with the results."
