Orthocrat Unveils User-Defined Tools, enhanced
PACS Integration at RSNA 2005

Chicago, Nov. 27--Orthocrat, Ltd., developer and marketer of TraumaCad digital orthopedic surgical planning and templating solutions, introduces at RSNA 2005 OrthoMacro, which allows orthopedists to build measurement protocols and define their own tools for specific clinical tasks. TraumaCad also debuts new fully thin-client architecture enabling deployment throughout the enterprise and beyond over the hospital network or Internet.
Using the new OrthoMacro feature, clinicians can define protocols for a specific clinical question and perform measurements in either a prospective or retrospective fashion. Once performed, the results will be automatically stored in the TraumaCad database where standard off-the -shelf statistical analysis tools will be applied. The protocols are also saved to the TraumaCad Enterprise Web Server enabling instant access to these tools from any TraumaCad access point in the facility.
Adam Eherenrich MD, Director of Product Management for Orthocrat says, “Different surgeons employ different logic and decision making processes. Providing a one-size-fits-all solution is clearly not useful. OrthoMacro will allow our customers to adapt TraumaCad to their own workflow--not the other way around."
With its enhanced open architecture, TraumaCad now downloads from a central server and has a single point of integration with a PACS, eliminating the need for multiple copies of the program and integration at each workstation. This fully thin-client architecture also supports access by authorized users from any Web-enabled computer beyond the enterprise.
“Thin-client architecture and tighter integration address today’s demand for enterprisewide and cross-enterprise workflow among all imaging specialties,” comments Glozman. “This also addresses the growing focus on orthopedics as an integral part of overall imaging workflow.
Orthocrat is one of a handful of companies in this niche and now assumes a leadership role in providing a truly open system.”
In line with this, the company will also be debuting new tighter integration to major PACS
systems, including Fuji Medical.
From a clinical perspective, with OrthoMacro, Orthocrat addresses the demand for more
sophisticated tools for imaging specialties as well as the demand for greater customization to
address the preferences of individual users.
