Orthocrat
Announces Successful Implementation
of
TraumaCad at UPMC Mercy
Columbia, MD – May 29, 2009.
Orthocrat, Ltd. announced today that UPMC Mercy,
part of the UPMC global health enterprise, has
successfully implemented the TraumaCad digital
orthopedic templating solution.
TraumaCad allows UPMC Mercy’s orthopedic
surgeons to preoperatively plan their surgeries
from anywhere, by accessing their patients’
images using UPMC’s enterprise-wide digital
imaging (PACS) system.
Rasu B. Shrestha, MD, MBA, UPMC’s Medical
Director for Digital Imaging Informatics,
explains, “Our orthopedic surgeons at UPMC Mercy
can now digitally plan their surgeries at a time
that is convenient to them, with complete access
to all necessary x-rays and advanced planning
tools. This allows the surgeon to more
accurately predict the type and size of
prosthetic implants, and is proving to be a
clinical advantage.”
“We are proud to have UPMC Mercy as our
customer,” says Zeev Glozman, Orthocrat’s CEO.
“In the coming months, we look forward to
introducing ever more advanced clinical
capabilities, such as our auto-hip templating
and our advanced deformity-correction software,
to UPMC’s surgeons.”
Dr. Shrestha adds, “The TraumaCad
implementation has gone very smoothly, and we
look forward to seeing increasing efficiencies
for our orthopedic surgeons and benefits for our
patients.”
