A Year Later:
OrthoFlow a success at
Connecticut
Children’s Medical Center
Columbia, MD – June 1, 2009.
Orthocrat, Ltd. announced today that OrthoFlow,
its workflow solution which was developed in
response to a challenge from Connecticut
Children’s Medical Center, has completed its
first year of successful operation, providing
significant workflow improvements in the
Department of Orthopedics.
With
OrthoFlow, a busy clinician can walk into an
exam room, swipe his ID badge, and immediately
view the images for the patient who is waiting
in the room. When the clinician leaves the
room, another swipe of the badge HIPAA-locks the
computer, with no sensitive information left
open.
When
asked about how OrthoFlow affects his clinical
practice, Jeffrey D. Thomson, M.D., Chairman of
Orthopedics at Connecticut Children’s, put it
simply: “With OrthoFlow, I can spend every
second with your child, without having to fumble
with computers first.”
Tom
Mooney, PACS Administrator at Connecticut
Children’s, expands on the benefits of
OrthoFlow: “Before we deployed OrthoFlow, our
providers had to spend more than a minute per
patient, having to log in, find the correct
patient, and launching the images from our PACS
system. During this period, the provider could
not interact with the patient.”
“Now,
all it takes is a swipe of the provider’s badge,
and the PACS images for that patient are
instantly displayed, saving very significant
time for the provider. Even better, the patient
in the room cannot
utilize the computer in any way, or see any
other patient’s information.”
Zeev
Glozman, Orthocrat’s CEO, adds, “When
Connecticut Children’s challenged us to develop
such an application, we enthusiastically
accepted the challenge. OrthoFlow has surprised
us in its applicability in a wide variety of
clinical settings, and we look forward to many
more successful implementations.”
