FERRANIA ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT WITH ORTHOCRAT
ON ORTHOPAEDIC
TEMPLATING SOFTWARE.
Ferrania UK Ltd. has entered into an agreement with Orthocrat to distribute its TraumaCadä
orthopaedic templating software within the North European region.
Zeev Glozman, CEO of Orthocrat and Ian Wilson, Business Manager of Ferrania UK, shook hands on
the steps of the British Institute of Radiology in London; they agreed that Ferrania was the company
to introduce the highly acclaimed software to the NHS and private sector customers.
TraumaCad will be included in the LifeWebä RIS / PACS portfolio of products and solutions that
Ferrania offers.
TraumaCad is also designed to drop in to any PACS environment, offering a film-free capability to the
orthopaedic department via the DICOM query / retrieve module, and the ability to send the completed planned
image for permanent storage via the DICOM store service, thereby enabling a quick and easy to use solution for routine pre-surgical templating, through importing and exporting of any PACS file (CT, X-ray etc.,). JPEG scanner and digital camera pictures can also be imported.
The TraumaCad solution can cost effectively simplify preoperative planning, particularly in complex procedures. Displaced components can easily be “cut out” and repositioned. Surgeons can look at several
scenarios on screen both viewing and measuring the results of various options.

Precision calibration is achieved through TraumaCad’s ruler tool, and measures can be made in
manual, semi-manual or automatic mode. In addition to the normal range of measurements, Cobb
angle, Dror Paley, leg length discrepancies and misalignment tests are included.
Instant access can be made to a top quality digital template library from most leading orthopaedic
manufacturers, via the web, and new or additional templates can easily be added or incorporated
(there are free template updates included in the service package).
The ease of use, intuitive and easily learnt user interface, together with easy configuration and
seamless integration into any PACS system, make LifeWeb TraumaCad the perfect solution to all
orthopaedic templating needs.
Ferrania expects its first installation in the UK to be within the next few weeks, with a number of
demonstrations already having taken place in the short time since the agreement was signed.
Gareth Dellenty, Ferrania’s PACS Implementation Manager commented “I am very excited about the
potential of this product mainly due to its scalability from one workstation to a site licence and the
ease of implementation… even in non - Ferrania PACS environments”.
Zeev Glozman said: “ I am delighted to have this agreement in place, I have been impressed by
Ferrania’s progress in the UK RIS / PACS market, they are a similar type of company to Orthocrat.
We are both innovators and we are prepared to focus on key areas of the market place to offer
outstanding value for money solutions. I am looking forward to working with the Ferrania team and
supplying the TraumaCad solution across North Europe”.
Ian Wilson was equally delighted with the addition to Ferrania’s portfolio of LifeWeb RIS/PACS
products. “ Orthocrat has been really well received in the UK - not surprising as it has received
outstanding reviews in the US from many leading clinicians,” he commented. “We are showing the
product on our booth at ECR in Vienna to gauge reaction from across Europe. We have been
looking for sometime for a solution such as this and are particularly enthusiastic about its
application across a range of clinics and hospitals both large and small, and its clear application in
academic institutions”.
LifeWeb is a trademark of Ferrania SpA; TraumaCad is a trademark of Orthocrat.
