ORTHOCRAT TO LAUNCH ON-LINE SERVICE FOR STORING AND SHARING PRE-OPERATIVE DATA AT AAOS
Tel Aviv, ISRAELAs part of a substantial AGFA HealthCare PACS / RIS contract, Orthocrat’s TraumaCad surgical planning software is being installed into a 40-site installation for the UK’s Nuffield Hospitals.
A full-featured digital orthopaedic surgical planning and templating solution, TraumaCad enables precise manipulation of soft-copy medical images, incorporating visualisation of fixation and prosthetic systems. It complements and works seamlessly with the PACS, RIS CR, and Initiate MPI (Master Patient Index) solutions that Agfa and its partners will install for Nuffield Hospitals, a private, not-for-profit health care organisation.
“We were very impressed with the professionalism of Orthocrat’s personnel and their ability to deploy a truly Web-based solution that is already proven in a large number of NHS Hospital Trusts in the UK,” said Adrian Stevens, Agfa’s HealthCare Director for North Europe Region. “This makes for an easy learning process, as a lot of the users are already familiar with the software.”
Agfa will begin installing Nuffield’s system this month and will bring all 40 hospitals on-line by the end of the year, Stevens said.
“Implementing a technologically advanced orthopaedic templating software like TraumaCad is certainly a great step forward for Nuffield especially with the positive feedback we are hearing from current users as it helps us provide our patients and consultants with the best possible technology to improve patient care and experience.” said Dr. Mohammed Hussein, Nuffield’s PACS project manager and technical consultant. “I am looking forward to working with Orthocrat team and seeing the benefits of the solution in our organisation.”
TraumaCad fully integrates with Agfa’s comprehensive imaging and health care IT systems. It enables the digital planning of a full range of orthopaedic surgery, provides a library of prosthetic templates, and includes an advanced modular deformity correction and pediatric package. Completed surgical plans are archived back to PACS, along with other patient files, and may be accessed in the operating room and throughout the PACS network.
“Combining Agfa’s expansive PACS capabilities with Orthocrat’s industry-leading templating software creates an efficient digital workflow environment for radiology and orthopaedic health care providers,” said Orthocrat CEO and founder Zeev Glozman. “We look forward to moving forward with Agfa on this project as we prepare for accelerated growth in 2007.”
Orthocrat will provide demonstrations of its latest upgrade, TraumaCad 2.0, at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons conference, February 1418 in San Diego, California. This upgrade offers enhanced surgical planning options with new resources that enable thorough and
accurate planning of foot, spine, hip, and trauma surgery. The upgrade also provides more reporting options and 3D modeling capabilities.
